At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, more than 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.
Purpose of the job:
- In the context of Product Engineering development, a Vibroacoustic engineer will participate in project/offer development through the application of internal procedures including Vibroacoustic management of projects, standard Vibroacoustic simulation and measurements of Rolling Stock and Components.
- In case of assignment to R&D tasks, he will be in charge of developing methodologies and technologies related to Vibroacoustics of Rolling Stock and Components.
- In case of assignment to Numerical simulations, he/she will participate in applying numerical simulation methodologies needed for the development of rolling stock and components.
Responsibilities
Projects main missions:
- Apply Vibroacoustic Engineering Instructions and guidelines to perform project/offer tasks.
- Perform Vibroacoustic analysis of tenders by comparison with referent solutions and previous projects.
- Prepare Vibroacoustic specifications and Vibroacoustic Management Plan (VAMP) for projects.
- Select the most efficient methods for allocation (experimental/numerical), verification, and validation during tender and project phases.
- Allocate noise sources and train assemblies using AT standard methodologies for Rolling stock and Components.
- Conduct standard Vibroacoustic tests, postprocess data, and report to validate prediction models and type tests.
- Perform standard Vibroacoustic simulations for exterior noise/interior noise and components.
- Liaise with Discipline Leader to validate Management Plan, allocations, and risks.
- Collaborate with experts in key domains to obtain necessary data for allocations.
- Coordinate with acoustic engineers in other sites and utilize AT Vibroacoustic databases for data retrieval.
- Capture Vibroacoustic REX of projects via AT Vibroacoustic databases.
For numerical simulation assignments:
- Perform, analyze, and validate advanced Vibroacoustic simulations using FE, BE, SEA, and raytracing techniques in product development and R&D.
For Transfer Path or Experimental Modal analysis assignments:
- Conduct advanced Vibroacoustic tests.
Qualifications:
- Engineering degree (BSc/MSc) with specialization in Vibroacoustics or acoustics.
- OIQ Member.
- Over 5 years of related experience in automotive, aeronautics, railway, or building sectors.
- Experience with Vibroacoustic testing and postprocessing using multichannel systems (e.g., B&K Pulse/Siemens Test lab), including noise & vibration measurements in operating conditions and transfer functions.
- Proficiency in Matlab (standard or advanced level depending on R&D involvement).
- Management skills for leading R&D actions with a transversal approach (for R&D missions).
- French conversational/reading proficiency (advanced level).
- English conversational/writing/reading proficiency (advanced level, preferred).
For numerical simulation roles:
- Knowledge of Finite Element theory and application.
- Experience with software like Altair Hyperworks (Optistruct) and VA ONE for acoustic simulation.
- Experience with software for Experimental Modal analysis and Transfer Path Analysis.
- Ability to operate efficiently in complex testing environments.
