Position Description

A Vanway Elementary School - 1.0 FTE - Gr. 1/2- Limited Duration Contract Teacher is required by School District No. 57 (Prince George). Applicants with assessment and trauma-informed practice experience are preferred. Qualifications And Experience
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or proof of application).
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Education’s redesigned curriculum and core competencies.
  • Evidence of appropriate qualifications and experience in teaching.
  • A proven ability with assessment as and for learning strategies.
  • Successful experience integrating local Indigenous culture and traditions into curriculum (knowledge of First Nations Principles and the Principles of Truth and Reconciliation).
  • The ability to use a variety of teaching and learning strategies that can accommodate the learning needs of all learners in an inclusive setting.
  • Successful experience integrating experiential and/or inquiry learning opportunities into the curriculum.
  • Training and successful experience in teaching and supporting social and emotional learning.
  • A proven ability to develop a positive learning environment in the classroom and evidence of strong organization and classroom management skills.
  • A commitment to and successful experience working collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Commitment to and demonstrated experience using and integrating technology into the curriculum.
  • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.
  • A current, valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel as required.

Compensation
  • Up to $1,000 relocation allowance for teachers’ relocation from within BC; up to $1,500 for teachers relocating from AB, SK & MB; and up to $2,000 for teachers relocating from all other provinces and out of country.
  • Salary as per collective agreement. Current salary grid is $49,769 - $95,681. Salary is based on TQS and prior experience.
  • Benefits as per collective agreement with option to enroll in Dental, Extended Health, and Group Life Insurance. Benefits are employer paid based on FTE.
