Qualifications

  • Operate large pumps, bio-reactors, microfiltration, and more.
  • Prepare equipment and process vessels for maintenance activities.
  • Conduct quality water sample tests and maintain shift logs.

Make your mark while you grow your career! Are you seeking an opportunity to demonstrate and develop your Utilities Water Systems Operator skill set? If so, this is an incredible opportunity where you will be responsible for the operation of the Potable Water, Waste Water & Field Locations (River Intake, Lift Stations, Camps, Recycle Water, Fire Water, Storm Water & Raw Water) for our Horizon Oil Sands site. You will assist with Maintenance, Engineering and Leadership to ensure Safe, Steady, Reliable operation of the units.

  • Job location: Fort McMurray, Alberta – Horizon Oil Sands site
  • Shift schedule: 7 x 7, 12-hour shifts (Wednesday start)
  • Safety sensitive position: Yes
  • Application deadline: December 16, 2025
Key Accountabilities
  • Operate various types of equipment: large pumps, bio‑reactors, microfiltration, lift stations, storage tanks, chemical pumps, and emergency electrical generators
  • Prepare equipment and process vessels for maintenance activities
  • Provide detailed maintenance requests for equipment repairs after troubleshooting utilizing Maximo
  • Conduct quality water sample tests, readings and shift logs
What You Bring To The Role
  • High School diploma with preference to a graduate from a Water and Wastewater Technician Program
  • Level 2 Water and Waste Water Certifications
  • A valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent)
  • Proficient in computer skills, with knowledge of the following applications: HMI Control displays, Word, and Excel
  • Knowledge of provincial regulations pertaining to Potable Water and Distribution & Waste Water disposal
