Purpose

Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Underground Field Technician is an integral member of the Exploration team, supporting the coordination and execution of underground diamond drilling activities. Working closely with Geologists and drilling contractors, the Underground Field Technician helps ensure that drilling programs are carried out safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include assisting with routine audits and inspections of underground drill rigs and contributing to clear communication across teams. This role requires a strong team-oriented mindset, a commitment to safety, and a focus on maintaining high standards of operational and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with the Exploration team to support the safe, efficient, and productive operation of diamond drill rigs in both surface and underground environments.
  • Carry out exploration field logistics tasks while maintaining a strong focus on safety and operational efficiency.
  • Assist in drill hole spotting and assessing the underground locations.
  • Assist with pre-site inspections of underground diamond drill setups and coordinate with relevant underground mine departments to ensure any required work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor adherence to safety policies/procedures and maintain equipment (e.g., encountering explosive gases, radio communication, etc.).
  • Serve as a liaison between the Exploration team and drilling contractors to ensure clear communication and the successful execution of drilling programs.
  • Conduct routine audits and inspections of underground drill rigs to ensure compliance with safety standards, operational procedures, and quality control measures.
  • Assist with leading monthly safety presentations sharing findings and deficiencies noted at the drill sites to the Exploration team.
  • Support the surface exploration operations in a similar capacity as required.
Training and Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Health and Safety related training is an asset.
  • Underground common core an asset.
  • Past experience working in a field logistics role is an asset.
  • Past experience working with diamond drills in a surface and/or underground setting is an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Industry-standard training in First-Aid, WHMIS is an asset.
  • Safety conscious.
