Responsibilities
What your day will look like
Project Management & Design
- Leading and managing design teams in the delivery of transportation infrastructure projects, including transportation master plans, environmental assessments, preliminary engineering and detailed design, tender document preparation, and engineering services during construction.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams, including transportation, municipal and structural engineers, transportation systems planners, land use planners, environmental scientists, and technical support staff.
- Ensuring designs meet governing body standards and engineering best practices.
- Setting up and coordinating multi-disciplinary detailed design drawing sets.
- Contributing to stakeholder consultation programs and municipal council and agency presentations.
- Liaising and coordinating with sub-consultants, including survey and geotechnical investigations.
- Overseeing and reviewing team designs and participating in workflow planning for design/drafting team members.
- Supporting the development of project management plans.
- Monitoring budget and revenue estimates.
Business Development
- Contributing to client relationship development and new business opportunities.
- Traveling to client locations and Dillon offices for responsibilities, relationship building, project research, acquisition, and delivery.
Learning & Development
- Participating in staff career development, including technical guidance, training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Engaging in Dillon’s professional activities through associations and committees.
- Committing to ongoing self-development and professional growth.
Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
Education
- A degree in civil engineering.
- Licensed with APEGA as a Professional Engineer or eligible within six months.
- Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience.
- PTOE and/or RSP designation is an asset.
Experience
- Experience managing teams of designers and drafters.
- Experience in geometric design of highways, municipal roads, and intersections, including urban and rural, new/greenfield, and rehabilitation/reconstruction projects.
- Experience designing overpasses and interchanges is an asset.
- Familiarity with environmental assessment requirements for municipal transportation facilities.
- Proven skills in public and agency consultation.
- Strong technical writing skills, including memos and reports.
- Demonstrated teamwork and coordination abilities in multidisciplinary projects.
