Job summary

A leading packaging firm in Toronto is seeking a full-time tow motor operator. The successful candidate will operate the tow motor safely, handle goods for shipment while ensuring safety protocols are followed. Qualifications

  • Valid tow motor permit required.
  • Previous experience with an inventory management system/scanning device is desirable.

  • Safely operate the tow motor and prepare goods for shipment.
  • Load trailers to maximize space utilization.
  • Conduct visual inspections for non-conformances.

Job description
Responsibilities

To safely operate the tow motor and accurately complete associated paperwork to prepare and load goods for timely shipment to our customers. Receiving of incoming materials / goods as per the company\'s quality policy.

  • Have a valid tow motor permit to safely load or unload trailers and pick or put away product as required
  • Verify counts on BOLs
  • Load trailers / trucks to achieve maximum space utilization
  • Note if any damaged goods are received
  • Visually inspect all incoming and outgoing shipments for any non-conformances
  • Follow all required procedures
  • Report all problems to your supervisor or lead hand when they occur
  • Perform daily check list on the tow motor
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or lead hand
Safety Responsibility and Accountability
  • Mobile equipment operator to ensure daily operator checklist is completed before use which includes clamp truck, forklift, elevated work platforms
  • Ensure dock safety training is followed
  • Report all hazards / problems to your supervisor when they occur
  • Report injury / incident to your supervisor immediately
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety act and good housekeeping practices
  • Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE): hi-visibility vest, gloves, safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection in the plant area
  • Abide by all warehouse rules safety rules and regulations
  • Keep fire equipment and exits clear at all times
