Site Description

The Central Newfoundland Regional Health Center, with about 130 acute care beds, is a secondary care facility serving the western part of the region. The facility offers a number of specialty services including anesthesia, general internal medicine, general surgery, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, pathology, psychiatry, urology, radiology, otolaryngology and dermatology. There are 45‑55 full‑time physicians, general practice and specialists providing services in Grand Falls‑Windsor. In addition to 24‑hour on‑site emergency physician coverage, this center provides advanced diagnostic imaging, laboratory and other investigative services.

Position Details

Position: Temporary Full‑Time Security Guard
Site: Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre
Overtime: Overtime after 48 hours
Hours: Continental rotation
Payrate: $19.00/hour
Posting Date: November 21, 2025

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
  • Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
  • Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
  • Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
  • Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Conflict Resolution: De‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
  • Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
  • Collaboration with Hospital Staff: Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
  • Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
Prerequisites
  • Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a CSA‑approved vendor)
  • Valid Class 5 Driver License & willing to take shifts at sites within a reasonable driving distance
  • English (oral and written) fluency is a must
  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants lacking these certifications can opt‑in to Paladin’s UOF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to meet the requirements of the position
  • UOF/MOAB training is not paid, but Paladin will cover all training costs with a 6‑month commitment to the position/availability
