If so, the Foothills Medical Center Facilities, Maintenance, & Engineering (FM&E) has an amazing opportunity for an experienced building automation specialist to join our team. The position of Temperature Control Mechanic/HVAC technician is crucial in ensuring optimal operation of our HVAC systems, directly impacting the comfort and safety of our patients and staff.

Key responsibilities. Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, BMS equipment. Program, install, and troubleshoot BMS hardware and software. Inspect and test low-voltage power systems, including valves, actuators, relays, and sensors. Inspect and test network communication systems. Develop custom graphical user interfaces for system monitoring. Implement energy optimization initiatives to enhance system efficiency. Complete service reports and preventive maintenance checklists accurately. Verify the installation and operation of electrical and electronic equipment and systems related to the BAS. Utilize technical manuals and written instructions when deemed necessary to calibrate electrical and electronic equipment and instruments. Strong understanding of HVAC equipment & mechanical components and how it is related to control strategies and theories. This position involves working in various environments, including mechanical rooms and patient care areas. Required Qualifications

Completion of a post‑secondary education in a related trade or technology program.

Additional Required Qualifications

Technician, diploma Technologist diploma or Engineering degree in a related technological field to BAS. Certified Journeypersons (Electrician, Instrumentation, HVACR). Proven ability to self‑learn, utilize and transfer to appropriate team members in an effort to enhance overall team awareness of existing and new technologies. Minimum of 7+ years related experience. Certified in Tridium Niagara AX – N4. Strong understanding of HVAC equipment/mechanical components and how they relate to control strategies and theories. Extensive knowledge and experience with BAS system installations. Extensive knowledge of multiple system integration strategies and applications. Extensive knowledge of network wiring standards and protocols. Strong communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. The ability to work effectively in a team‑based environment. Ability to work in a process driven environment. Time management and multi‑tasking abilities are essential. Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills both verbal and written.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum 5+ years of technician experience as a ticketed HVAC technician with HVACR Technician Certificate or Building Environmental Systems Technology Diploma. Minimum 2 years’ experience in an active hospital maintenance program. Knowledgeable of CSA Z317.2, ASHRAE 170, Health Care facility Infection Prevention Control, and work safety regulations. Knowledge of Microsoft Visio is an asset.
