Job description

LMI Technologies, recognized as one of Canada’s Best Workplaces, is a medium-sized technology company built on a culture of openness, respect and professional excellence. At LMI our staff work passionately toward the common goal of designing and delivering innovative 3D machine vision solutions to OEMs and System Integrators working in industrial factory automation around the world. The result of this teamwork is high-performance, easy-to-implement and cost-effective 3D sensor technologies that deliver the best results in even the most challenging 3D inline inspection applications.

We are looking for a Technical Training Coordinator and Developer to expand our Training Program and make LMI Technologies the thought leader in machine vision. This role will own the coordination of the existing technical training program, while bringing new ideas to expand and improve the program. Our ideal candidate will be able to switch between coordinating learners and developing training material.

The Technical Training Coordinator and Developer will also participate actively with LMI staff to provide training expertise in projects to address training, planning, implementation, development, delivery and other training services. You will assist the Training Program Manager to provide subject matter expertise and feedback to internal LMI SME’s regarding training needs, course content and delivery methods as well as advise on learning content for a variety of delivery methods including instructor-led classroom training, videos, eLearning, mixed media programs, virtual training and other digital instructional technologies.

You will be reporting to the Training Program Manager and working collaboratively alongside our Videographer to take complex concepts and turn them into clear and accessible training materials. Sitting through boring, ambiguous, long winded training presentations is like nails on a chalkboard to you.

  • Recommend and implement evolving training methods. Introduce learning best practices, governance frameworks/operational models and learning technology to support a traditional learning environment as well as a blended learning culture
  • Create a system to capture current experience index by person and skills, then coordinate training to plan for cross training
  • Find opportunities to automate processes
  • Support LMI values to ensure a culture that champions equity, diversity and respectful workplaces

Technical Training Development Duties:

  • Interview Subject Matter Experts to distill New Product Integration details and create training materials for LMI staff and external partners. Training materials include website updates, presentations, instructor guides, video scripts, webinar outlines and more

  • Develop and create digital training modules, digital learning platforms and SAMs
  • Develop learning strategies and initiatives using adult education theories and models in support of inclusive learning experiences for diverse audiences
  • Provide instructional design guidance to internal stakeholders and subject matter experts
