We are looking for a Technical Training Coordinator and Developer to expand our Training Program and make LMI Technologies the thought leader in machine vision. This role will own the coordination of the existing technical training program, while bringing new ideas to expand and improve the program. Our ideal candidate will be able to switch between coordinating learners and developing training material.

The Technical Training Coordinator and Developer will also participate actively with LMI staff to provide training expertise in projects to address training, planning, implementation, development, delivery and other training services. You will assist the Training Program Manager to provide subject matter expertise and feedback to internal LMI SME’s regarding training needs, course content and delivery methods as well as advise on learning content for a variety of delivery methods including instructor-led classroom training, videos, eLearning, mixed media programs, virtual training and other digital instructional technologies.

You will be reporting to the Training Program Manager and working collaboratively alongside our Videographer to take complex concepts and turn them into clear and accessible training materials. Sitting through boring, ambiguous, long winded training presentations is like nails on a chalkboard to you.

What will you do as a Technical Training Coordinator?

Technical Coordination Training Duties:

  • Manage current technical training partner program registrations, communications and attendance
  • Coordinate technical training for internal and external audiences
  • Develop and maintain strong, customer-focused relationships with distributors, LMI staff, Subject Matter Experts and team members
  • Provide learners with links to documents and software required to take part in training
  • Scope, plan and schedule courses internationally. Own the workflows of scheduling courses, creating learning plans, managing rosters, groups, pages and catalogues
  • Gather feedback from trainers and trainees after each educational session
  • Track and analyze learning and development metrics related to course completion and business impact
  • Recommend and implement evolving training methods. Introduce learning best practices, governance frameworks/operational models and learning technology to support a traditional learning environment as well as a blended learning culture
  • Create a system to capture current experience index by person and skills, then coordinate training to plan for cross training
  • Find opportunities to automate processes
  • Support LMI values to ensure a culture that champions equity, diversity and respectful workplaces

Technical Training Development Duties:

  • Interview Subject Matter Experts to distill New Product Integration details and create training materials for LMI staff and external partners. Training materials include website updates, presentations, instructor guides, video scripts, webinar outlines and more
  • Interview Subject Matter Experts to identify technical requirements of each role and plan training paths
  • Develop technical training courses, programs and curricula (e.g., instructor-led in-class sessions and self-directed learning: e-learning, reference guides, readings, presentations, etc.), utilizing instructional design methodologies and adult education principles which meet the needs of LMI Technologies
  • Develop and create digital training modules, digital learning platforms and SAMs
  • Develop learning strategies and initiatives using adult education theories and models in support of inclusive learning experiences for diverse audiences
  • Provide instructional design guidance to internal stakeholders and subject matter experts

What do you need to be successful?

  • Post-secondary education in Education, Training & Development, eLearning, or an equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experiences
  • At least 3 years of experience coordinating multiple training events in a corporate setting
  • Knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation, including experience in needs analysis and research to improving overall job performance through identified training requirements
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills to evaluate (using evaluation methodologies) and make recommendations to enhance or develop new training and/or programs
  • Fundamental knowledge of organizational effectiveness principles and how they relate to organizational training and development initiatives
  • Demonstrated competence using Google Suite and collaboration tools
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with staff, all levels of management and external partners
  • A technology, IT or industrial background is an asset
  • A curiosity that drives creative and innovative solutions
