Company: netzerowater.ca. Net Zero Water is a division of Summit Water (summitwater.ca).

Company Overview:

Net Zero Water is a Cambridge, Ontario–based company specializing in the design and manufacture of advanced water treatment and water reuse systems for commercial, institutional, and multi-residential developments. We provide fully integrated, skid-based rainwater and groundwater systems that help buildings meet stringent sustainability goals and municipal water reuse codes.

We are expanding our presence in Canada and the US where green building standards and code requirements are driving rapid adoption of water reuse technologies.

Position Summary:

The Technical Sales Representative will lead Net Zero Water’s sales efforts in the Greater Toronto Area, focusing on promoting our Net Zero Water line of engineered systems to mechanical engineers, developers, and mechanical contractors involved in high-rise commercial and multi-residential construction.

This is a consultative, specification-driven sales role that requires both technical aptitude and strong relationship-building skills. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering firms during the design stage to ensure our systems are specified in tenders, and then support contractors during the bidding and execution phases.

The candidate will also be involved in the development of the business in other states and provinces. Some travel is involved, but the main focus will be Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Business Development & Market Growth
  • Identify, develop, and manage relationships with mechanical consulting engineers, developers, architects, and contractors across the GTA.
  • Conduct lunch-and-learn presentations and technical seminars at engineering firms to promote Net Zero Water systems.
  • Track upcoming construction projects through databases, networking, and relationships with engineering and contracting firms.
2. Specification & Design Influence
  • Work with engineering teams to provide technical guidance, drawings, and system specifications at the design phase.
  • Ensure Net Zero Water systems are listed in tender documents and specifications.
  • Provide value-engineering support and product selection guidance to design teams.
3. Tender & Sales Execution
  • Coordinate with internal engineering and estimating teams to prepare quotations and proposals for mechanical contractors.
  • Support contractors during tendering, answering questions and ensuring accurate inclusion of system scope.
  • Negotiate and close sales contracts, ensuring successful handoff to project management and operations.
4. Market Intelligence & Reporting
  • Maintain a sales pipeline using the CRM (HubSpot).
  • Monitor competitor activity and emerging market opportunities.
  • Provide monthly updates on sales performance, pipeline status, and key accounts.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • 5+ years of technical or engineered systems sales experience (preferably in mechanical, HVAC, or water treatment).
  • Background in mechanical, environmental, or civil engineering considered a strong asset.
  • Proven success in specification-based sales and in selling to engineers and contractors.
  • Knowledge of building mechanical systems, pumps, or water treatment equipment preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; experience conducting lunch-and-learn sessions is ideal.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a long and complex sales cycle.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s licence and ability to travel within the GTA.
Personal Attributes:
  • Technically curious with a consultative sales style.
  • Professional, confident, and comfortable speaking to engineers and developers.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Passionate about sustainability and water conservation.
