Overview
We are seeking a skilled & motivated Team Lead, Power System Engineering in our Kelowna, BC office.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Mentorship
- Provide ongoing leadership and technical support to the team, which includes Junior Engineers/EITs, Designers, and Drafters.
- Support professional development through regular feedback, goal setting, and performance reviews.
- Foster a collaborative and positive team culture that emphasizes technical excellence, safety, and accountability.
- Team & Resource Management
- Oversee day-to-day assignment of work, ensuring efficient resource allocation across multiple projects.
- Approve team timesheets, expenses, and vacation requests in accordance with company policies.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new team members as needed.
- Project Delivery
- Take ownership of projects being delivered by your team. Prepare equipment specifications, tender documents, estimates, material take-offs, and ensure adherence to delivery schedule.
- Types of projects include:
- Medium & Low Voltage Systems: Distribution design (4–25 kV), transformers, switches, circuit breakers, control panels, and related equipment.
- High Voltage Systems: Station layouts, structure design, switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, bus configurations, protective relaying, SCADA/communications.
- Studies & Analysis: Grounding (CDEGS/WINIGS), lightning protection (IEEE 998), load flow, short circuit, arc-flash, and voltage drop studies (CYME).
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Manage client and stakeholder engagement, maintaining relationships with alliance clients and participating in stakeholder meetings.
- Coordinate with utilities and authorities having jurisdiction to obtain necessary approvals and resolve design or construction issues.
- Construction Support
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify that construction aligns with issued designs.
- Perform field inspections as required, and provide support to construction contractors to ensure safe and accurate execution.
- Business Development
- Coordinate quotations and proposals; develop technical input, cost estimates, and written content in support of upcoming projects and client opportunities.
- Other Duties
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as required to support the success of the Power Systems Engineering team and broader organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Registered or eligible for registration with EGBC (or other Canadian association).
- P.E. license in the United States (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in electrical utility or power systems engineering.
- Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Class 5 driver’s license (or equivalent).

Salary Range: $50.00 - $65.00/hour
