A local school district in Chilliwack is seeking a part-time teacher for a Grade 1/2 split class at Leary Integrated Arts and Technology Elementary School. Salary

Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement)

Effective Date: Immediately until no later than December 19, 2025.

Required Abilities, Qualifications And Experience
  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
  • Knowledge, understanding and demonstrated application of the First Peoples Principles of Learning, with a commitment to reconciliation and allyship.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to establish/maintain positive, respectful, and collaborative relationships with colleagues, students, parents/guardians, and community
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and motivating students through a Response to Intervention (RTI) framework, particularly in literacy and numeracy and SEL key concepts
  • Demonstrated ability to plan inclusively using Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to allow multiple access points for learners with differing abilities, interests, and needs
  • Demonstrated ability to design/implement/assess Project Based Learning (PBL) that explores and connects Big Ideas and concepts across disciplines
  • Demonstrated interest, aptitude, or experience in fine arts, applied arts, media arts, or technology including facilitation of authentic demonstrations, artifacts, performances, or exhibitions of learning that allow for student voice and choice
  • Commitment and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a learning community in the implementation of the school and district 4 Pillars of Integrated Arts and Technology (Integrated Disciplines; Collaborative Culture; Authentic Learning; Visionary Staff)
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member in developing, planning supports, implementing, assessing and communicating progress towards goals on CBIEPs and to work collaboratively with staff, families and administration in the implementation of these plans (School Based Team model)
  • Demonstrated ability to promote an effective classroom learning environment utilizing trauma informed perspectives, cultural sensitivity, using social emotional developmentally appropriate pro-active classroom management strategies (supporting PBS and school wide initiatives).
  • Demonstrated ability to implement highly successful instructional strategies and lesson designs within a flexible, multi-graded learning environment including the development of literacy skills; a focus on balanced literacy practices to encompass the 5 Pillars of Literacy, guided reading and small group instruction.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement highly successful instructional strategies and lesson designs within a flexible, multi-graded learning environment including the development of numeracy skills; a focus on whole class, small group instruction, number talks, high yield math routines, and hands on learning opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively use classroom, school, district and provincial level assessments to differentiate instruction and learning (District Primary Assessments, PM Benchmarks, ACT, SNAP, Word Inventory, etc.)
