Job Summary:


Provides survey support to the Resident Engineer on projects to ensure construction compliance with plans, specifications, contract documents, and codified requirements. Tasks may include assisting with performing land surveys and conducting research on various construction projects of basic complexity which may include visually mapping/drafting legal boundaries and the potential placement of structures, utilities, and installations. Generates accurate and concise documentation regarding assigned aspects of the project. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, uniformity, thoroughness, and legal compliance for survey documents.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:


* Under general supervision, assist with collecting, compiling, researching, and analyzing data from property/utility records, deeds, land/property titles, structural plans, and other matrices for land surveying activities.


* Under general supervision, use survey instruments to perform various types of property surveys on projects of basic complexity and/or scope, which could include boundary, existing condition, topographic, as-built, subdivision, and profile maps.


* Provides basic professional survey assistance that accounts for accurate survey data, and determines conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, boundaries, and construction specifications.


* Assist with surveyor activities for projects of a basic scope and complexity within a region.


* Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications related to site observation and survey findings using photographs, sketches, calculations, software, spreadsheets, technical drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and reports.


* Complete training on assigned tasks.


* Work collaboratively with other professionals, engineers, scientists, technicians, and project administrators on assigned survey tasks.


* Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, location data, statistical documentation, studies and surveys, and construction.


* Remain current in the latest survey knowledge, techniques, and practices.


* Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and adhere to professional conduct and KLJ's policies and procedures.


* Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.


Qualifications:


* High School Diploma.


* Associate's degree in Surveying, Geospatial, or closely related discipline is preferred.


* Minimum of 1 year of relevant post education experience in discipline with prior surveying experience with easements, rights of way, plats, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, property descriptions, and GPS surveys.


* Familiar with land survey principles, practices, process, methods, and techniques


* Familiar with relevant codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.


* Excellent research and evaluation skills with analytical mindset.


* Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audience.


* Capable self-leadership with attention to detail, ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policies.


* Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.


* Basic proficiency with survey equipment (e.g. Leica Robotic Total Station), Auto Cad, Civil 3D, Microstation, and/or Geopak.


* Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week.


* Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Hours and Travel:


This position requires the individual work 40 or more hours per week with 10% of the time spent in the office and 90% in the field.
