Job description

Are you looking for a rewarding role where every day offers the chance to make a real difference? Mencap’s Sudbury services are recruiting Support Workers to join our friendly team. You will be supporting six individuals who enjoy a wide range of activities, from watching football and playing pool to visiting the cinema or theatre. They love arts and crafts, spending time with family, and taking the occasional seaside trip during the summer, so no two days ever feel the same.

As a Support Worker, you will play an important role in helping people live as independently as possible. Your day may include preparing meals, assisting with cleaning and laundry, and offering support with any personal care needs. You will help create a warm, safe, and encouraging environment where the people we support can thrive.

To apply for this role, you will need to have a full UK driving licence as supporting people to access the community is a key part of the job. Our shift patterns can vary between 7am and 10pm, and the role includes sleep‑in shifts and weekend work as part of the rota.

If you are caring, reliable, and ready to bring positivity into someone’s day, we would love to hear from you. Join us at Mencap and start a career where every moment matters.

Job ID 35163 Please note: This position does not meet the minimum salary requirements for a Health and Care visa under the UK Skilled Worker route, as set by the Home Office. Therefore, although Mencap is a licensed sponsor, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must already have the legal right to work in the UK, as we are not able to support new visa applications or sponsorship requests for this vacancy.

Here at Mencap, we offer an impressive range of benefits designed to support and reward our employees to ensure that our teams feel valued and appreciated.

Our benefits package offers 32 days of paid holiday (including bank holidays, pro rata), along with a range of perks such as discounts at leading high‑street retailers, access to health cash plans, interest‑free loans, and many more exciting offerings.
