Job Summary

The Supervisor, Program is responsible for leading the operation of the production team within the Region. The incumbent develops and oversees unionized Railroaders to ensure safe, quality, and efficient production and shipment of track products for Engineering’s Capital and Maintenance programs.

Main Responsibilities
Overseeing Employee Performance and Safety
  • Ensure effective, impactful, and engaging leadership of unionized staff
  • Improve team and individual performance through mentoring, training, coaching, auditing, and feedback
  • Lead continuous improvement culture
  • Communicate with customers regarding detailed product requirements, schedule, and shipping requirements
Lead Track Programs and Safety
  • Coordinate and monitor products through complete production cycle, which includes planning, scheduling, staffing, producing, handling inventory, loading, shipping, and documenting
  • Cohere to a production schedule and control internal and external customer expectations
  • Ensure the production process is cost‑effective and shipments are made on time
  • Coordinate, establish, and implement standard operating procedures for safe and quality production
  • Ensure Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of safety, quality, and efficiency are met or exceeded
  • Inspect major track work in accordance with CN track Standards
Working Conditions

The incumbent works primarily outdoors (90%) with limited office time (10%), in all types of weather and environmental conditions. The role requires extensive travel (80%) across the region to provide oversight on projects and programs. The position is required to work a production cycle schedule, including overnight stays. The role requires being available on‑call 24/7 for critical incidences. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress.

Requirements
Experience
  • Unionized Environment
  • Minimum 2 years of supervising, planning, coordinating, scheduling, and auditing production operations in a unionized environment
Education/Certification/Designation
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Valid Canadian Rail Operating Rules (CROR) Card
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers Licence
  • First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) qualified

Technical Skills/Knowledge
  • Knowledge in the interpretation and application of CN Engineering Track Standards, Track Standard Drawings, and Recommended Methods
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to learn business‑critical systems, including Systems, Applications and Products (SAP) such as Production Planning, Payroll, and Time Reporting
  • Additionally, interest in learning Service Reliability System (SRS), Safety Risk Management (SRM) eBusiness Applications, Lotus Notes Applications, which consist of Performance Assessment Process (PAP), Performance Monitoring Compliance Rules (PMRC)
  • Fluently bilingual both written and verbal (English, French)*
