What You Will Do

Reporting to the Manager, Asset Management and Planning as a leader in the Grid Modernization department, you will contribute to a diverse range of initiatives, including distribution infrastructure projects, electrification, innovation, and grid modernization efforts. Below are the detailed responsibilities for this pivotal position.

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to GIS staff, including GIS Technicians.
  • Oversee the administration, development, and maintenance of the corporate GIS platform (AutoCAD Map 3D and Esri ArcGIS) and ensure its integration with other enterprise applications.
  • Manage GIS system update including software, databases, and hardware, ensuring system reliability, data integrity, and cybersecurity compliance.
  • Develop and implement web services and mobile Apps to support asset management, operational planning, and business decision making.
  • Supervise routine GIS record update and oversee QA&QC processes.
  • Provide support to the GIS team as well as cross-functional departments such as Operations, Engineering, Stations, Metering, and Customer Services.
  • Liaise with IT, vendors, consultants, and external agencies to implement GIS enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure software compatibility.
  • Plan and organize GIS-related training programs for staff and support change management initiatives.
  • Stay up to date with emerging GIS technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for GIS-related initiatives.
What You Will Bring
  • D iploma or a university degree in Geographic Information Systems, Engineering, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of GIS database administrator and application developer experience, preferably within the utility industry.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a GIS supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in GIS systems, including AutoCAD Map 3D, ArcGIS, Geodatabase administration, and SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, infrastructure mapping, and asset management.
  • Proven experience in team leadership, project management, and staff training.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in change management and process optimization related to GIS implementations.
  • Additional requirements include excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of staff and management
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgements and adapt to change. Applicants must have proven time management skills and a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects within tight timelines.
  • Valid Class G Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
