About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Supervisor, Equipment Services Operations to join our dynamic Equipment & Automation team.

The Equipment & Automation team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by spearheading the organization’s efforts to investigate and identify alternate solutions and emerging technologies.

In this role, you will lead regional Field Service Representatives to deliver maintenance and repair for CBS equipment, prioritizing proactive planning and rapid response to failures to minimize supply‑chain disruption. You will develop work schedules, assign and monitor tasks, maintain workshops and test tools, and enforce regional productivity and quality standards. You will negotiate timelines and resolve technical or logistical issues with internal stakeholders and external vendors, while exercising financial stewardship within allocated budgets.

Responsibilities
  • Leverage your excellent leadership and people‑management skills, supervise regional ES Operations staff, lead recruiting with the Operations Manager, setting objectives and priorities, coaching for performance and manage disciplinary matters to build a skilled, compliant team.
  • Oversee repair and validation work, review Field Service Representative activities in Regulatory Asset Manager, and ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing and Blood Regulations.
  • Represent Equipment Services at internal and external audits, collaborate on CAPAs and audit responses, and provide operational input for projects and process changes.
  • Support LEAN/Six Sigma initiatives, evaluate third‑party service providers, and recommend cost‑effective repair and process improvements.
  • Monitor and allocate regional resources to maximize efficiency, minimize customer disruption, and collaborate with stakeholders to resolve equipment performance issues.
  • Manage regional workshop and test equipment inventory, schedule calibrations, maintain tools and supplies, and promote a safe, lean, and efficient workshop environment.
Desired education and skills
  • Post‑secondary diploma/degree in biomedical, engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years in a leadership role managing equipment service delivery.
  • 5‑7 years’ experience in regulated healthcare, biologics, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience working with unionized workforces and leading cross‑functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills with the ability to develop practical solutions in fast‑paced settings.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and CMMS/data‑entry systems; excellent organizational, time‑management and change‑management abilities.
  • Advanced communication skills, professional demeanor, and a strong customer‑service orientation.
