About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Land & Building Services, the Supervisor, Building Officials leads the City’s building inspection services. This role oversees permit processing, site inspections, code compliance, and enforcement actions. You’ll manage a team of building officials, guide technical reviews, and ensure safety and regulatory standards are met across residential and commercial projects. The position also plays a key role in modernizing permitting processes and supporting departmental improvements.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will have a Journeyman Certificate in construction or plumbing, BOABC Level 3 certification (or equivalent), and preferably be a Registered Building Official. You’ll bring at least 10 years of progressive experience in building inspection, including 2 years in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of national codes and bylaws, excellent communication and decision-making skills, and proficiency with tools like GIS and ERP systems are essential.
