Join us as Structural Integrity Lead Engineer, and you’ll be engaged in a career-defining role by participating in the design and the structural validation of passenger railroad vehicles.

As Lead Engineer, you will, in collaboration with the project manager, lead a team of 2 to 6 structural design engineers, to ensure compliance with schedules, budgets, and work quality.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the calculation team mandate, including producing component qualification and validation plans in accordance with technical specifications, internal guidelines, and applicable standards.
  • Prepare purchase component specifications and work in collaboration with the group responsible for procuring these parts.
  • Create and verify finite element models of rail vehicle components.
  • Perform mechanical calculation activities including stress analysis with linear and nonlinear materials, fatigue life estimation, evaluation of bolted and welded assemblies, deflection and stability analysis, modal analysis, and frequency response analysis.
  • Guide component design and suggest improvements to optimize functionality, weight, and manufacturability based on calculation results.
  • Write mechanical calculation reports according to project schedule.
  • Present and explain the results to the client.
  • Participate in design reviews with internal and external clients.
  • Prepare specifications for qualification tests, participate in on-site testing, review data, and write reports.
  • Support various project activities such as stage reviews, risk assessments, budget estimates, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Master's degree related to mechanical component design.
  • Member of the OIQ, engineer or candidate to the engineering profession (CPE).
  • Over 8 years of relevant experience in complex assembly mechanical calculation. Experience in the transportation sector is an asset.
  • Advanced knowledge of the finite element method and experience in using specialized software such as Hyperworks.
  • Mastery of strength of materials calculation, and methodologies for analyzing welded or bolted assemblies.
  • Self-driven, structured, and organized with a practical and systematic approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including with third parties (clients).
  • Team player who enjoys learning and sharing new knowledge.
  • Ability to multitask in a matrixial and project-oriented organisation.
  • Bilingual French and English
