A leading engineering firm in Vancouver is looking for a Structural CAD Designer - New Graduate to produce structural 3D models and 2D drawings. Recent graduates or those graduating in 2026 with a diploma in civil/structural design are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will work in a collaborative environment and must be proficient in CAD software such as Revit and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2026, or recently graduated.
  • Experience in large project, multi-disciplinary EPCM environment.
  • Knowledge of structural design regulations.

At Hatch, the Structural CAD Designer is part of an engineering team providing engineering services to large and small projects.The role is responsible for the production of structural 3D models and 2D drawings in accordance with project requirements under the supervision of the Lead Structural Designer.The successful candidate will participate in a wide range of projects covering structures such as building foundations, equipment foundations, building steel framing, and designs of various other structures for mining,industrial and hydropower plants.Activities include structural steel and concrete modeling and drafting for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects.

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Assist the Lead Structural Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost and schedule
  • Produce and maintain technical and engineering drawings using 2D and 3D CAD software as required
  • Perform conceptual layout work
  • Check drawings prior to release
  • Ensure coordination with designers and engineers within the discipline and with other disciplines
  • Perform clash detection of models with other discipline models
  • Participation in formal engineering review processes
  • Verify onsite condition and dimensions relating to existing facilities
  • Incorporate safety in design.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be working towards graduating in 2026, or recently graduated, with a diploma specializing in civil/structural design
  • Experience within a large project, multi-disciplinary EPCM environment
  • Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D structural design/drawing software packages, including at Revit, AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation software
  • Knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, regulations and codes pertinent to structural design in Ontario.
  • Understanding of other discipline requirements
