Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Sterile Processing setting required, with experience in all surgical specialties.
• Experience with Neuro, Ortho, and General Surgical instrumentation required.
• Completion of a National Central Service Technician course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day functions for assigned area.
• Assist with ensuring departmental goals and service excellence.

• Monitor quality of work and assist with goal setting for the team.
• Coordinate, assemble and distribute supplies for surgical cases.
• Cleaning and sterilizing instruments and supplies.

PeaceHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician Lead for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Night position. Hours: 11:00pm - 7:30am. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $27.24 – $40.90. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions for assigned area. Assists with ensuring that departmental goals are achieved, timelines met and service excellence provided in all aspects of work. Subject matter expert. Responsible to practice in a professional manner and enforcing the standards of quality assurance, infection control, DNV and other regulatory agencies.

Details of the Position

• Assigns work; plans and manages priorities, provides technical assistance, oversees staff schedules, monitors quality of work, monitors team projects, mentors staff, provides constructive feedback, oversees staff training, ensures quality improvement, provides leadership feedback on staff performance, and assists with goal setting for the team.
• Responsible for the coordination, assembly and distribution of supplies, equipment and instruments for surgical cases.
• Provides in-services for new instrumentation.
• Assists and participates in process improvement initiatives, responsible for documenting, monitoring and maintaining accurate records demonstrating high level disinfection and sterilization in accordance with current professional and regulatory agencies.
• Collaborates with the Perioperative Nursing staff to provide sterile instrument sets, and equipment in an accurate and timely manner. Assists in maintaining consistent and continuous workflow, providing superior customer service.
• Re-stocking inventory.
• Cleaning, decontaminating, disassembling and sterilizing instruments and supplies.
• Operate a variety of sterilization equipment.
• Clean and maintain department equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Diploma Preferred: or equivalent

Experience

• Minimum of 1 year Required: Experience in a Sterile Processing setting required, with experience in all surgical specialties
• Required: Experience with Neuro, Ortho, and General Surgical instrumentation
• Preferred: Completion of a National Central Service Technician course

Credentials

• Required: Certified Instrument Specialist
• Required: Natl Sterile Processing/Distribution Certification

Skills

Working Conditions

Lifting

• Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.
• Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment, frequently.
• Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 25 lbs.
• Push/Pull: Frequently up to 10 lbs. force.
• Reaching frequently.
• Squat/ kneel occasionally.

• Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
