Job description

Our client, a mid-sized public accounting firm, is currently seeking a highly motivated Staff Accountant with one to two years of experience in Public Practice. The candidate is expected to apply their work experience and demonstrate an aptitude to learn Accounting, Assurance, Compilation standards, and Taxation, perform assigned tasks, and ask for assistance when required. This role is ideal for those sincerely committed to growing individually as a well-rounded public accountant as part of a great team.

Roles and responsibilities under the direct supervision of mentors:

  • Prepare compilation (Notice to Reader) files and investment write-ups
  • Gain exposure in assurance engagements – Audit and review
  • Prepare personal (T1), trust (T3), and corporate (T2) income tax returns
  • Understand and apply GAAP/GAAS concepts
  • Commit to excellence and provide a high level of service to clients
  • Engage in continuous mentoring and learning under the supervision of senior staff
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience in public practice
  • Pursuing CPA program
  • Understanding of basic GAAP/GAAS concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
  • Collaborative and proactive team player
  • Good working knowledge of Caseware and Taxprep
