Solutions Architect

WineDirect is the only fully integrated Direct-to-Consumer platform purpose-built for wineries. We are seeking an energetic and highly motivated Solutions Architect to join our Software Engineering team at our Vancouver, BC office.

This role involves developing our next-generation WineDirect platform, focusing on omni-channel sales, marketing, loyalty, analytics, and subscription automation services.

Responsibilities include:

• Architecting scalable cloud-native services and infrastructure in AWS using Aurora, PostgreSQL, and SQS.
• Implementing event-driven architectures with SideKiq, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
• Designing headless shopping experiences with platforms like Shopify, Magento, or BigCommerce.
• Integrating payment APIs such as Stripe.
• Working with Ruby on Rails and full-stack architecture.
• Designing API-driven microservices supporting mobile, POS, and eCommerce platforms.
• Transforming legacy systems into modern architectures.
• Monitoring performance with Open Telemetry.
• Managing the full software development lifecycle.
• Ensuring OWASP compliance in design and implementation.
• Writing clean, efficient, and well-tested code.
• Communicating effectively with vendors and internal teams.
• Mapping vendor documentation to internal standards.
• Architecting cross-mobile solutions and OLTP to OLAP data models.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Ideal candidate profile:

Must have a strong sense of empathy, prioritizing excellent experiences for partners, clients, and end-users.

• 8+ years in software development, especially distributed or cloud systems.
• Proficient in Ruby on Rails, Go, Java, C++, React JS, or NodeJS.
• Experienced with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in microservices architecture, domain modeling, and RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, event streaming, Data Warehousing, or Data Lakes.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, EE, or equivalent experience.
