Your role at Petal

As a Software Development Team Lead, you will join a collaborative and innovative environment where teamwork and continuous learning are highly valued. You will take ownership of high-quality software solutions, drive technical excellence, and contribute directly to strategic initiatives. While you bring technical knowledge and may occasionally contribute code, your primary impact will come from organizing work, removing blockers, and fostering alignment. You will be supported by Development Managers and senior leadership to help shape team processes and promote a high-performing, collaborative culture.

Here is some of the technology you will work with on a daily basis: .NET 4.8/9, MAUI, TypeScript, MySQL, Azure, Kubernetes, Azure AI Services and more.

Your expertise and leadership skills will play a pivotal role in shaping the team’s success and the future of Petal’s software solutions.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead and support a team of 3-6 offshore developers by helping them prioritize and organize tasks and projects while fostering a collaborative, inclusive team culture aligned with Petal’s values;
  • Provide clear technical direction, enforce coding standards, and promote best practices to ensure high-quality, maintainable, and scalable software solutions;
  • Act as the bridge between developers and stakeholders, ensuring everyone is aligned on requirements, priorities and timelines;
  • Translate project deliverables into actionable development tasks, establish clear milestones, and monitor progress to ensure on-time delivery;
  • Identify risks, potential bottlenecks, and technical challenges early on, working proactively with the team to remove blockers and maintain project momentum;
  • Foster a culture of ownership by promoting the “you build it, you run it” philosophy, ensuring the team takes responsibility for supporting and maintaining their work in production;
  • Drive continuous improvement by evaluating tools, processes, and workflows, encouraging experimentation and innovation where appropriate;
  • Focus on stabilizing team performance and addressing technical and operational challenges, while supporting team members through day-to-day guidance and effective management;
  • Promote a healthy work-life balance by encouraging sustainable workloads and ensuring the team feels supported in managing their time and responsibilities.
Your profile
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar technical leadership role;
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to break down deliverables, track progress, and ensure follow-through;
  • Strategic, solution-oriented thinker with a focus on successful project delivery;
  • Solid understanding of software development processes and lifecycles;
  • Strong leadership with the ability to inspire, motivate, and hold team members accountable;
  • Advanced technical knowledge across front-end and back-end development;
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • .NET, MAUI, TypeScript
  • MySQL, Azure, Kubernetes, Azure AI Services
  • Comfortable using Linux or macOS
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as ECS and Lambda (an asset);
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal;
  • Strong interpersonal skills; thrives in collaborative, close-knit teams;
  • Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders;
  • Willingness to contribute occasionally (up to 15% of time);
  • Experience working with distributed or offshore teams is a strong asset.

Our benefits
