The Amazon Management Experiences (AMX) team, comprising 1,400+ employees, builds innovative platforms that help Amazonians build rewarding careers. Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Work with technical leaders across the org to deliver large distributed projects to delight our customers

  • Write high-quality, efficient, testable code

  • Build highly available, secure systems

  • Find out what it takes to engineer systems for "Amazon Scale"

  • Collaborate with some of the best engineers in the industry

  • Own and operate the systems that you build

  • Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, release, operations, and process improvement as a member of the team

  • Get firsthand experience engineering with AWS services such as Glue, Athena, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB and others

A day in the life

Your typical day involves architecting and building robust solutions that power critical business initiatives. You\'ll participate in technical design discussions, write and review code, and optimize existing solutions for performance and reliability. You\'ll dive deep into production issues, implement solutions that enhance system stability, and build new capabilities into our platforms. Cross-team collaboration is key, as you\'ll work closely with various teams to maintain system requirements and optimize workflows.

Work/Life Balance: We value work-life harmony and offer flexibility in working hours. While the position involves on-call responsibilities (typically one week every two months), we work to ensure our systems are fault tolerant and continuously improve our infrastructure to minimize disruptions.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • 2+ years of big data technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Lucene/SOLR or Storm/Samza experience
