Job summary

A technology company in safety solutions seeks an SMT Manufacturing Engineer to manage SMT & PCB Assembly processes. Qualifications

Reporting to the Manager, Electronics Manufacturing Engineering, the SMT Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for preparing, supporting and monitoring SMT & PCB Assembly processes. They will also develop documents and design fixtures for production

Responsibilities
  • Develop, measure and track SMT performance and quality through SPC, DPMO and FPY
  • Support NPI build and create NPI build report to provide Feedback and recommendation.
  • Experiment and implement new defined or future development equipment and processes.
  • Create support Document to aid in processes and quality control.
  • Provide technical support to SMT & PCBA team on quality and process concerns.
  • Optimize and balance cycle times of SMT equipment.
  • Support, maintain SMT processes and line efficiency to a defined set target.
  • Engage in developing Design for Manufacturing rules and guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot machine performance/breakdown issue.
  • Jig and Fixture design for SMT and Though hole
  • Develop PFMEA – Process Failure Mode & Effects Analysis to every product.
  • Initiate problem-solving sessions to identify, resolve issues affecting line efficiency and quality.
  • Analyze PCBA process defects and returned product defects to identify corrective actions.
  • Work with production to ensure efficient operation to meet production schedules.
  • Develop machine parameter setting limits for process specification.
  • SMT machines programming
Qualifications/Education
  • Degree in Electronics, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering with eligibility to register with APEGA as an EIT or P.Eng.
  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC), Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO),
  • First Pass Yield (FPY), Design of Experiments (DOE), 8 Disciplines (8D), and support of the "one product, one process" concept is required.
  • Familiarity with IPC Standards including IPC-600, IPC-610
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles would be an asset.
  • Experience in Dek printer, SPI, AOI, Siplace operation and programming would be an asset.
  • Prior experience with SMT process support engineering would be an asset.
Steel‑Toed Boots Requirement

Candidates are required to wear steel‑toed boots for this role to ensure safety compliance in the workplace. Applicants must have access to a pair of steel‑toed boots prior to starting employment.
