As a member of the Ledcor/Bird General Partnership team (LB LNG) environmental labor team, you will play an integral role in supporting safe, high-quality, and efficient construction activities. Successful candidates will work in accordance with project environmental, safety, and quality standards while helping to minimize environmental impacts through responsible work practices. This includes respecting environmental protection measures, supporting site sustainability initiatives, and ensuring work is completed with care for the land, water, and wildlife surrounding the project area.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Site-Wide Equipment Monitoring & Management
    • Conduct continuous monitoring of mobile equipment (e.g., light plants, generators, heavy equipment, diesel pumps) to prevent hydrocarbon contact with soil or water.
    • Oversee multiple diesel pump stations across the site, ensuring regular maintenance and safe operation.
  • Watercourse & Ditch Oversight
    • Monitor and maintain non-contact ditches, ensuring staged equipment is properly managed and compliant with environmental requirements.
    • Implement divergence measures to protect water quality.
  • Spill Prevention & Response
    • Ensure all pumps, generators, and light plants are staged with appropriate spill response equipment and in full compliance with site requirements.
    • Lead spill containment and cleanup activities when necessary.
  • Erosion & Sediment Control (ESC)
    • Manage and maintain sediment fences, coco mats, wattles, berms, poly liners, and other erosion and sediment control measures.
    • Support the installation and upkeep of ESC infrastructure in alignment with environmental compliance standards.
  • Water Operations
    • Manage dewatering systems and associated piping to support the operation of sediment ponds.
    • Provide technical and operational support to ensure pond activities remain in compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Construction Support
    • Assist construction crews during slab pours and related activities to maintain environmental compliance.
    • Provide support with spill containment, pump and tote management, and ESC measures (e.g., berms, containment).
    • Perform labour crew tasks including groundwork, dewatering, loading and unloading materials, general clean-up, and ongoing maintenance of work areas.
  • Other Duties as Required
    • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by supervision to support project needs, recognizing that priorities and scopes may shift.
Requirements
  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks as needed and stand for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
  • Previous experience assisting with ESC, dewatering, and spill response is highly desirable
  • Must successfully complete pre-access drug and alcohol testing
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and able to provide a clear 3-year driver's abstract
  • CSTS-2020 Fundamentals
  • Local proof of address documents
Work Conditions
  • Project is located in Squamish, BC
  • Experienced applicants that reside in Squamish or surrounding local areas will be considered
  • "Local" areas include Squamish, North Vancouver, Whistler, and areas in between
  • 14 days on / 7 days off rotational shift, 10-12 hour work days

Base Wage

$24.56 - $31.90

Compensation

This is the applicable wage range for this position. Individuals will be assigned a base wage within this range based on trade certification and/or apprenticeship level, industry experience, and work location.

Remote, site-based positions may be eligible for additional incentives including but not limited to travel and accommodation allowances.

Additional Information

Woodfibre Management Ltd, a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver, British Columbia, is spearheading the Woodfibre LNG Project, a proposed Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) export facility currently in the pre-construction phase. Situated near Squamish, British Columbia, on the site of a former pulp mill, the project is a collaboration between Woodfibre LNG and Pacific Canbriam Energy, both subsidiaries of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited. Notably, the project has secured environmental approvals from the B.C. and Canadian governments, as well as from the Squamish Nation. This initiative highlights Woodfibre’s commitment to responsible and inclusive development and aims to leverage low-emission Canadian natural gas, meeting high demand in countries transitioning from coal to natural gas for its environmental benefits. Through the use of renewable hydro-electricity, the project strives to become the world’s lowest-emission LNG export facility.
