Position: Site Supervisor – Kal Tire MTG
Location: KT 338 Kearl Oil Sands, Fort McMurray, AB (Fly-in/Fly-out)
Kearl Oil Sands is located approximately 120 km north of Ft. McMurray, Alberta. This is a fly in - fly out camp-based operation, with air travel provided out of Calgary or Edmonton. The current rotation is 4 days in camp followed by 3 days out, 42 hours per week.
The Site Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the tire service contract on site. Work performance will ensure that our business is aligned with the goals and objectives of both Kal Tire and the Customer, ensuring that the Kal Tire AIMS and strong commitment to safety are upheld by all Team Members.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required to ensure that necessary information is being transferred between stakeholders. The successful candidate will need to be self-reliant and resourceful as this is a growing project. A commitment to safety and training onsite will be of the utmost importance and critical to the ongoing success of the location. The Site Supervisor will have responsibility for the conduct of all Kal Tire employees while on site – working or in camp.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the effective performance and development of the team by setting clear role objectives and service standards, providing information, tools and processes to get the job done.
- Supervise the recruitment of site service personnel (in conjunction with the Talent Acquisition Team).
- Ensure all aspects of Kal Tire’s Health & Safety Program are communicated and implemented in a consistent manner with Team Members, including; D&A Program, FLRA, Hazard Analysis, SWP’s, Accident/Incident Investigation & Reporting, Monthly Safety Meetings & Inspections, Due Diligence, etc.
- Hold and document regular safety and toolbox talks with team members.
- Provide leadership to ensure all safety and CSR activities comply with Kal Tire policies and procedures.
- Ensure the Career Track Training of all team members is documented, organized, readily available and up to date as per the applicable progression timelines
- Ensure all site specific and specialized training such as Forklift, Manipulator and Hiab is documented and up to date.
- Interact with Team Members on the shop floor on a regular basis and provide coaching and mentoring.
- Provide a monthly report on area activities – using defined KPI’s to benchmark performance.
- Provide daily, weekly, monthly reporting to the customer as required.
- Attend and participate in regularly scheduled customer meetings.
- Provide continuous feedback with team members in regard to customer activities, changes in policies or procedures, company updates / changes, team member performance, etc.
- Improve our team member relations through the proper and consistent application of the Collective Agreement where applicable.
- Ensure site inspections, tire and wheel inspections, air pressure monitoring, scheduled rotations and change outs, proper documentation, etc. are carried out to provide best value and tire performance for the customer.
- Ensure appropriate equipment and tooling is provided and is cared for, maintained and in good working order.
- Take all reasonable measures to ensure compliance with the relevant Company, Customer or Governmental policies & procedures.
- Be proactive in understanding new technology in the marketplace that could aid in the tire maintenance process and provide added value to our customer.
- Ensure adequate inventory is on hand or readily available to meet the needs of the customer.
Education & Work Experience
- High school diploma required; diploma or post-secondary education in administration, operations, or related field preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in tire sales, operations, or heavy equipment maintenance
- Minimum 5 years’ supervisory or leadership experience in industrial or mining environments
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective team and client interaction
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and resolve problems under pressure
- Skilled in administrative tasks including reporting, invoicing, and data analysis
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills
- Knowledge of safe work procedures, tire failure analysis, and maintenance plans
- Familiarity with supervisory evaluations and performance management
- Ability to adapt and thrive in remote, fly-in/fly-out camp settings
