Position Summary

Reporting to the Signals Foreman, the selected individual will be responsible for successfully completing day-to-day tasks by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals for safety, quality, profitability and schedule, resulting in extreme customer satisfaction.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Embrace our safety culture and adhering to industry and company policies and procedures
  • Support cable distribution & installation, housing installation, assembly of signal equipment.
  • Perform labour tasks as required by the Site Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Inspect, test, repair or replace S&C systems, devices and equipment.
  • Responsibly operates company vehicles and/or equipment and ensures all daily maintenance and inspections of the units are completed
  • Work cooperatively with other employees.
  • Performs special duties as assigned by the Signals Foreman
  • Performs any administrative duties related to proper documentation as per PNR Quality Management System

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Electrical or Signals experience would be considered an asset.
  • Experience installing communications systems is an asset.
  • Previous railway signals experience is an asset.
  • Ability to read and understand specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans and specifications is an asset.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong work ethic

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Works outdoors at construction sites.
  • Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposed to all weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
  • Exposed to loud noise.
  • Exposed to live track/trains.
  • Ability to work Days, Afternoons and Nights
