Description:
The course examines the role of technology and engineering in global development through lectures, readings, case studies, and analysis of key technologies. Topics include history and theories of international development, major government and non-government players, emerging models (social entrepreneurship, microfinance, risk capital), social venture capital and philanthropy, financial markets, environmental and resource considerations/sustainable development, technology diffusion models, and appropriate technologies.
Estimated TA support: 108 TA hours
Course Schedule: Mondays 6-8 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesdays 6-8 p.m.
Sessional dates of appointment: January 1 – April 30, 2026
Stipend: $12,930 inclusive of vacation pay
