NEW Seniors Programs Assistant (casual)

Opportunity

The Seniors Program Assistant will assist in the day-to-day operations and delivery of our social programs, as well as the coordination of other seniors programs and services offered. This position will contribute to the department’s overall effectiveness and success of our service delivery, helping our Seniors feel better connected to the community and live life better.

Contract Details
  • We are located in beautiful North Vancouver, near Deep Cove, Seymour Mountain, trails, parks and the ocean.
  • Free parking and close to public transit.
  • Hourly wage is $19.50 per hour plus 6% vacation pay.
  • A clear Criminal Records Check for Vulnerable Persons will be required.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Hours will be as needed operationally and as accepted.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensures rooms are set up to serve both participant and programming needs.
  • Ensures proper room take down and clean-up in accordance with current health and safety requirements.
  • For the delivery of food services to Seniors, ensures the commercial kitchen and other spaces utilized are properly cleaned at the end of each session.
  • Oversees volunteers with meal preparation, meal service and kitchen clean-up.
  • Builds and maintains good relationships with Seniors program participants.
  • Addresses any questions, suggestions, concerns or complaints as they arise to the appropriate Seniors programs leader.
Qualifications
  • Food Safe, First Aid certification, Serving It Right and a Class 4 driver’s license are assets.
  • Working knowledge of not-for-profit and community-based organizations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork, facilitation and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work effectively with program staff, volunteers, non-profit or publicly funded groups, agencies or organizations.
  • Applicants must be able to be comfortably on their feet and stand for the majority of a shift, and able to lift and carry up to 20-25 pounds of equipment or related program items.
  • Flexibility with occasional evenings and weekends and seasonal events is an asset.
