Job description
The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support the assessment, design, and improvement of surface and underground mine infrastructure. In this role, you will lead civil and structural projects from concept through implementation, supporting operational upgrades while ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and mining regulations. You will work closely with operations, maintenance, contractors, and fellow engineering professionals in a technically complex environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Perform structural calculations and designs for conveyor systems, transfer towers, crusher and screen supports, material handling and storage systems, and foundations.
  • Evaluate existing steel, concrete, wood, and masonry structures to safely integrate new or additional equipment.
  • Assess surface and underground infrastructure and recommend repair or replacement programs as required.
  • Develop civil and structural designs in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Lead civil/structural improvement projects from concept through implementation.
  • Manage projects including cost control, scheduling, tender preparation, bid evaluations, and commissioning oversight.
  • Oversee consultants and contractors to ensure work is completed in accordance with project requirements.
  • Prepare and complete risk assessments and manage change processes in alignment with mining regulations and site standards.
  • Provide technical direction and support to engineering peers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Review and approve shaft heavy lift plans.
  • Perform value engineering analyses to optimize designs for mine applications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for site engineering standards and industry best practices.
  • Produce technical drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Support other engineering disciplines as required, including ground control, mechanical engineering, and drafting.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of mine engineering practices and processes, including surveying, ground control, and ventilation.
  • Strong project management, time management, and communication skills.
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience in underground mining environments.
  • Familiarity with applicable mining regulations.
  • Soft rock mining experience.
  • Salary range- 100,000-150,000 depending on title
