Job summary

A healthcare IT firm in Toronto seeks an experienced Epic Security Specialist to configure user roles and maintain security compliance. Job description
Responsibilities
  • Configure and maintain user roles, security classes (SER), and user templates (SUP) in Epic.
  • Provision and de-provision users, manage provider records, and assign appropriate roles and templates.
  • Collaborate with HR and clinical leadership to streamline onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Conduct periodic audits of user access in compliance with HIPAA and internal security standards.
  • Support Epic upgrades and implementation of new modules from a security standpoint.
  • Troubleshoot access issues and respond to security-related service requests.
  • Participate in system change control meetings and ensure all changes are documented.
  • Assist in policy creation related to application access, data security, and auditing.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for Epic security workflows and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Epic Security Certification (Required or obtained within 6 months of hire).
  • 2–4 years of experience in Epic application security or Epic administration.
  • Familiarity with RBAC, HIPAA, and healthcare IT compliance requirements.
  • Experience with SER, SUP, role templates, and user provisioning.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Healthcare IT, or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Epic modules (e.g., ClinDoc, Ambulatory, Beacon).
  • Experience with audit tools and Epic reporting (e.g., Radar, Reporting Workbench).
  • Background in ITIL, system change management, or project coordination.
