Overview

Join to apply for the Senior Reporter ( English Services) (On-Site) role at Radio-Canada.

Position is on-site in Toronto and involves reporting for CBC / Radio-Canada News with English Services.

Responsibilities
  • Generate and execute compelling journalism that explores a variety of voices and perspectives, from daily news to long-form features.
  • Go live on any platform whenever a story requires it.
  • Produce original content while also responding to breaking news and emerging stories in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pitch and cover stories that resonate with our national audience, with a unique ability to find the national significance in local events.
  • Research and analyze complex issues using specialized sources to ensure our audience gets a deep, nuanced understanding of important topics.
  • Collaborate effectively with local and network newsrooms to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  • Quickly identify significant issues and take decisive action to ensure they are covered accurately and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of contacts with a wide range of sources.
Your Profile

You are a seasoned journalist with a minimum of 7 years of comparable experience who thrives in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment.

  • Exceptional storytelling skills, with a proven ability to produce memorable writing and digital content.
  • A critical mind and outstanding interviewing skills.
  • Strong on-air presence and skill with live reporting.
  • Extensive knowledge of Canadian news and current affairs issues, and a demonstrated connection to a wide range of underrepresented communities in the region.
  • Proficiency in using social media for research and reporting.
  • A collaborative team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work flexible hours, including overtime as needed.
  • Knowledge of CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices
  • A university degree in journalism or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license and a driving record that meets CBC / Radio-Canada's insurance requirements are a must
