Job summary

Education

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Note 1: Employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

  • A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
  • An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Relevant technical fields include: electrical, building controls/automation systems, mechanical, architectural, or civil.

Experience

EX1: Experience in the preparation of scopes of work, specifications, cost estimates and computer-aided drawings for projects.

EX2: Experience in providing engineering support services for planning, design, construction, operation or maintenance.

EX3: Experience in providing complete project management from initiation to closure for infrastructure projects, including new construction, recapitalization or environmental assessment and remediation.

EX4: Experience in personnel management of a small technical team.

Asset Experience

AEX1: Experience working in the Federal Public Service or in Defence Construction Canada.

AEX2: Experience using AutoCAD.

AEX3: Experience using National Master Specifications (NMS) to tender infrastructure maintenance or construction projects.

AEX4: Experience using Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).

AEX5: Experience using cost estimate software such as RS Means Online or Manual.

AEX6: Experience in contract administration.

AEX7: Experience coordinating consultant activities from project initiation, options analysis, design development and construction administration phases.

AEX8: Experience as an Architectural Technologist/Technician/Tradesperson contributing to projects supporting building architectural systems (interior renovations and new construction).

AEX9: Experience as an Electrical Technologist/Technician/Tradesperson contributing to projects supporting site or building electrical systems (interior renovations and new construction).

AEX10: Experience as a Civil Technologist/Technician/Tradesperson contributing to projects supporting site or building municipal systems (interior renovations, site development, recapitalization and new construction).

AEX11: Experience as a Mechanical Technologist/Technician/Tradesperson contributing to projects supporting building mechanical systems (interior renovations and new construction).

AEX12: Experience as a Structural Technologist/Technician/Tradesperson contributing to projects supporting building structural systems (interior renovations and new construction).

AEX13: Experience as a Building Automation Technologist/Technician/Tradesperson contributing to projects supporting building automation and instrumentation systems (interior renovations and new construction).

Operational requirements

Must be able to work overtime, including weekends and on short notice (responding to emergencies).

Must be able to travel and work at various sites and under various conditions.
