Overview

Senior Project Manager-Construction Paper Operations — Port Mellon, Howe Sound Mill (HS01), CA, V0N2S0. This is a full-time, permanent role with Domtar. Domtar is a leading producer of pulp, paper, packaging, tissue and wood products, focusing on safety, sustainability, operational excellence and a broad network of facilities across Canada and the United States.

The location in Port Mellon, British Columbia, V0N2S0, CAN is seeking talent to fill the position of Senior Project Manager-Construction Paper Operations.

Responsibilities
  • The Senior Project Manager, Construction will work with the Project Delivery Group to evaluate major capital upgrades/modifications to paper and board machinery and supporting equipment.
  • Acting as the global subject matter expert and supporting all capital projects ($10M to $700M in size); this includes evaluating and scoping projects, designing equipment, evaluating vendor proposals and overseeing installation and commissioning.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to Mill Managers to assess current technology footprint and to identify solutions that reduce operating costs or improve throughput.
  • Serve as the technology expert on capital paper making equipment design and advise mill General Managers on development of capital proposals, scoping machine requirements and negotiating with vendors.
  • Introduce innovation or the latest technical solutions available in the external marketplace.
  • Use Business Review Meetings and KPI leverage to resolve potential issues at an early stage.
Qualifications
  • Academic preparation required: BS in Paper Making Engineering; Advanced Degree is a plus.
  • Experience required:
  • 5+ years or more experience as a Paper machine application engineer or in relevant roles in paper mills or related industries.
  • Prior experience with green or brown field Paper Mill construction/Re-Builds is required.
  • Previous experience working in paper machine engineering with an OEM (original equipment manufacturer).
  • Experience sourcing key components globally from low-cost sources; must know what needs to come from OEM and what can be sourced from secondary vendors.
