Position Purpose

The Senior Operations Manager of the Ontario Distribution Centre (ODC) is responsible for providing leadership and directing the delivery of day-to-day operations. This includes formulating strategy, improving performance and budgeting. The Senior Operations Manager gives oversight to managers and staff providing front line and external partner agencies with the merchandise needed. Responsible for ensuring that all programs operate in accordance with The Salvation Army’s internal standards and relevant legislation.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead ODC operations, setting strategic direction and ensuring alignment with The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, values, and divisional goals.
  • Drive organizational growth and program integration by developing and executing strategic initiatives that maximize impact and revenue.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation to ensure sustainable and efficient operations.
  • Manage human resources, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, training, and compliance with organizational and legal standards.
  • Foster a high-performing culture by coaching, mentoring, and supporting staff and volunteers to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Ensure health, safety, and regulatory compliance across all operations, including workplace safety protocols and OHSA requirements.
  • Direct property and facility management, including maintenance planning, contract approvals, tenant relations, and secure, functional premises.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, partners, donors, and vendors to support ODC objectives.
  • Implement effective administrative systems, policies, and procedures for reporting, data management, inventory control, and compliance.
  • Promote program excellence through continuous improvement, monitoring outcomes, and ensuring alignment with organizational mission and community needs.
Education and Experience Qualifications
  • Completion of a three-year University Degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Ontario “G” Driver’s License with satisfactory driver’s abstract; Food Safety and First Aid/CPR certifications are assets.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience, including executive management in distribution and logistics within the food services sector, with responsibility for budgeting, resource management, and staff supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience working in the not-for-profit sector and engaging with community partners.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and motivate employees and volunteers while maintaining health, safety, and operational standards.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills; able to build strong relationships with staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 programs and strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Maintains integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism; demonstrates cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Self-motivated, accountable, and able to foster a cooperative team environment, providing constructive feedback and resolving conflicts effectively.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and support for The Salvation Army’s mission and values; willing to undergo applicable background checks and screenings.
Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $66,831.48 to $83,539.35 with a maximum of $100,247.22.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
