Overview

Toromont Cat is looking for a Senior Network Architect to join our team! The Network Architecture Lead is responsible for the strategic design, planning, and evolution of the organization’s enterprise network infrastructure to ensure it meets current and future business needs. This role provides both technical vision and leadership, translating business objectives into scalable, secure, and high-performing network solutions.

Responsibilities

In a typical day, YOU will :

  • Define and maintain network architecture strategy, standards, and roadmaps
  • Design and validate enterprise network solutions (LAN, WAN, cloud, data center, wireless, etc.)
  • Provide technical leadership and governance for network engineers, operations, and major changes
  • Evaluate and select technologies, vendors, and platforms to meet business and compliance needs
  • Collaborate and align with cross-functional teams (security, cloud, infrastructure, applications) on end-to-end solutions

Must-haves for this role :

  • University Degree / College Diploma in an Information Technology discipline and a minimum 10+ years’ experience in an IT technical role with at least 5+ years focusing on computer networking architecture and network operations team supervision
  • Senior technical knowledge of enterprise network architecture including LAN / WAN / SDWAN / VPN and wireless networking, hardware, software, and associated monitoring platforms
  • Strong knowledge of network solutions, standards, governance and strategy including network security, datacentre and cloud interconnect principles
  • Strong, demonstrable experience with wireless design and implementation including surveying, designing based on architectural drawings, and deploying / testing to production
  • Experience managing wireless controllers and both on-prem and cloud based wireless access points and associated platforms with a focus on Cisco and secondly Aruba
  • Technical knowledge operating F5 load balancers, SD-WAN topologies such as VeloCloud, Palo Alto firewalls and network security appliances, windows based DHCP / DNS services, Cisco ISE / Secure Client (AnyConnect) or other comparable technologies
  • Experience architecting and managing network segregation, VLAN configurations, NAC and trunking with a demonstrated ability to optimize and scale the enterprise network
  • Experience architecting and managing either locally hosted or managed service DDI platforms
  • Direct experience operating and managing Network Management & Monitoring Tools
  • Willing and able to work on-site as necessary and occasionally travel between branch and head office locations across Canada and in certain US locations
  • Customer service focused, experience working in ticketing based systems and leading network operations / NOC teams
  • Strong troubleshooting ability, quickly able to rule out or pinpoint and solve general network performance / access issues
  • Positive team player with strong problem-solving abilities and a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrable team leadership capability
  • Certifications in the areas of general networking support, wireless networking, Cisco, F5 and Palo Alto are of strong benefit. Other certifications such as Aruba, Juniper, etc a bonus
