Job Description

ThePub is seeking a Senior Motion Designer who excels in fast‑paced, high‑volume creative environments. In this role, you will help lead the development of sophisticated motion design across social, out‑of‑home, and other short‑form formats, helping to transforming static assets into dynamic, high‑impact visual experiences that elevate big ideas and drive performance.

Responsibilities
  • As a senior team member, you’ll play a key role on major client accounts, partnering closely with creative leadership, project managers, and account teams to shape concepts, guide execution, and ensure best‑in‑class motion output under tight deadlines.
  • You’ll provide creative direction, mentor junior artists, and bring a strategic lens to how motion can enhance storytelling across platforms.
  • You will bring both conceptual thinking and technical excellence, consistently pushing work to a higher level and influencing creative approaches across the team.
Qualifications
  • The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail‑driven craftsperson and proactive problem solver with deep expertise in timing, rhythm, animation principles, and visual storytelling in short‑form video.
  • 5-7+ years of digital design, motion graphics, and interactive experience, with a track record of delivering high‑impact creative across complex, multi‑platform environments
  • Undergraduate degree or post‑secondary certificate in Graphic Design (or equivalent professional experience)
  • Extensive experience in motion graphics, media transcoding, and asset delivery pipelines, including managing specifications across social and OOH formats
  • Strong communication skills, able to articulate creative concepts, rationale, and technical considerations
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities, and provide guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate designers
  • Consistent ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities, and maintain quality standards in high‑pressure, fast‑turn environments
  • Familiarity with Jira or similar project management tools is important.
  • Experience with AI-powered creative tools such as Runway or other generative platforms are a plus.
  • Experience working with pharmaceutical brands could be beneficial, though not required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects (including expressions), Illustrator, InDesign) and Figma, with expert‑level understanding of animation principles, compositing, and workflow optimization. Additional knowledge of JavaScript, templating, automation and 3D (Cinema 4D, Blender, etc.) are a plus.

Salary

Transparency matters to us. The salary range for this position is CAD $70,000 - CAD $75,000 per year. Actual compensation within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and applicable certifications. This range reflects what we reasonably expect to offer based on current market data.
