Job Overview

Agropur is looking for a Senior Manager, Warehouse Automation to join its team based in Don Mills.

Role Description

The Senior Manager, Warehouse Automation is Agropur’s technical expert for automation and modernization projects. This role defines system architectures, success criteria, and performance indicators for major investments. It leads the technical strategy, specifications, supplier management, and commissioning of automated systems (ASRS, AMRs, conveyors, WCS/WMS/WES, palletizing) to ensure optimal, scalable, and reliable integration.

Reporting to the Director of Technical Services and PMO Governance, this position collaborates with engineering, operations, IT/OT teams, and OEMs to deliver measurable gains in throughput, efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

  • Salary range 007: $126,600 to $158,300 (Base salary will be determined based on academic background, experience, training, and job-related skills).
Responsibilities
  • Acting as the technical reference for automation and smart distribution projects.
  • Defining success criteria, KPIs, and design standards.
  • Translating operational needs into functional and technical specifications.
  • Evaluating emerging technologies and aligning automation strategy with Agropur’s logistics roadmap.
  • Serving as the primary technical point of contact with OEMs, integrators, and software partners.
  • Overseeing the structuring of service contracts (SLA, LTSA), including KPIs and penalties.
  • Ensuring system integration (WMS, WCS, PLC, ERP) and compliance with safety and performance standards.
  • Participating in design reviews, risk analyses, and FAT/SAT validations.
  • Defining acceptance protocols and commissioning requirements.
  • Contributing to investment planning and ROI evaluation.
  • Developing and maintaining automation standards for consistency and scalability.
  • Conducting post-implementation audits and identifying optimization opportunities.
  • Staying ahead of technological trends (IoT, digital twins, AI, predictive maintenance).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or other relevant field.
  • 10 to 15+ years of experience in warehouse automation, material handling systems, or industrial integration.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional), APICS CSCP or CPIM (an asset).
  • Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end automation projects from design to commissioning, ideally in the food industry.
  • Expertise in ASRS, AMR/AGV, conveyor technology, palletizing, and WMS/WCS/WES (preferably SAP EWM).
  • Knowledge of industrial controls (PLC, SCADA, safety systems).
  • Strong skills in contract management and supplier relations.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Availability for frequent travel (50–75%) within Canada and occasional travel to the U.S.
