Summary

As a Java Software Engineer at Deloitte, you will join our Delivery Team on a 1‑year fixed‑term employment basis, responsible for developing robust and scalable application solutions. You will utilize your expertise in Java8, Spring Boot, and related technologies to deliver high‑quality software, working independently to complete user stories and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to drive technology excellence. Your role will encompass all aspects of the software development lifecycle, from design and estimation through release and documentation.

What will your typical day look like?

• Participate in release planning activities, providing Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) estimates, while identifying key dependencies and risk areas.
• Collaborate with Architects to define technology roadmaps, prioritize value delivery, and contribute to building the right product efficiently.
• Design and develop application solutions using Java8, Spring Boot, and the broader Spring ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Security), as well as Python scripting and REST API integration.
• Work closely with other members of your Delivery Pod and across teams to ensure consistency and correctness of the final solution.
• Write and execute unit tests to validate that developed solutions meet user story requirements before handover to Quality Assurance.
• Utilize tools such as Maven, Jenkins, Gradle, Git, and Nexus for continuous integration and deployment, and manage deployments on Microsoft Azure.
• Perform database scripting and optimization using Oracle and MS SQL Server.
• Follow standard change management processes to ensure smooth production deployments, coordinating with all relevant stakeholders.
• Document technical specifications, use cases, user stories, configuration details, and technical diagrams to support ongoing delivery and future enhancements.

You are someone with:

• Solid hands‑on experience in Java8, Spring Boot, and related frameworks (Spring MVC, Spring Security with OAuth/LDAP).
• Proficiency in Python scripting and Linux or PowerShell scripting.
• Strong background in developing and integrating REST APIs.
• Experience with SDLC, agile development methodologies, and DevOps tools (Maven, Jenkins, Gradle, Git, Nexus).
• Database expertise with Oracle, MS SQL Server, and SQL scripting.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms.
• Ability to provide accurate development estimates and identify key delivery risks.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a focus on delivering value and maintaining technology excellence.
• Attention to detail and commitment to documentation and best practices.
• Capacity to work independently to complete user stories and contribute effectively within a team environment.

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $138,000, and individuals may be eligible to participate in our bonus program. Deloitte is fair and competitive when it comes to the salaries of our people.
