What is the opportunity? The Client Connectivity team is part of the RBC Capital Markets Quantitative & Technology Services group and is responsible for enhancing and maintaining technical components that cater to Equities, Options, FX, Futures and Rates trading across the Americas, Europe and APAC regions. We are looking for a technical resource with UNIX scripting ability to help deploy FIX gateways throughout our electronic stack.

What will you do?
  • Deploy FIX gateways for internal and external clients
  • Collaborate with Business and IT stakeholders across Front and Middle Office divisions to define, design and implement enhancements and new features to FIX Gateway and UI components supported by the Client Connectivity Development team
  • Investigate and address production issues via log data analysis and recommend solutions that meet Business and IT Risk requirements
  • In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years in a Technology position within the Capital Markets industry
  • Solid knowledge of FIX protocol
  • Expert level UNIX administration skills and ability to script (Shell, Perl, BASH, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
  • Experience with high capacity / low latency infrastructure a plus
  • Knowledge of FIX testing tools such as VeriFIX, FIX Conductor
  • Basic Networking and Routing knowledge
  • Java development, hands‑on experience developing on Linux and Windows platforms
  • Web development skills: JSP/Servlets, Tomcat, Spring, HTML and CSS
  • Knowledge of development build cycles and tools such as GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus and Helios
