Stantec’s Alberta Environmental Services group is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Planner to work with our Assessment and Permitting Team. The team is based in Alberta, and while we embrace our core value that \"we are better together\", we do offer flexible work solutions and hybrid work situations.
In this role, the successful candidate will provide support to all stages of a project’s lifecycle including assessment, permitting and approval requirements, construction support, and post‑construction support. Working with our biological, physical sciences, human environment, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading environmental assessments and permitting activities for a variety of projects. These projects will typically be in oil and gas, power production and distribution, urban land development, transportation and infrastructure and water and waste sectors. Typical projects include small to large‑scale provincial and federal pipelines, oil and gas facilities, and power‑related projects (including renewables). We are always growing as we continue to adapt to the changing environment in which we work and are excited to work on several energy transition projects.
The ideal candidate for this position is one that is a self‑motivated, demonstrated effective communicator who thrives working in a team environment and a creative thinker with demonstrated problem‑solving skills and a drive to support clients and internal teams to find solutions.
A Bachelor’s degree in the Sciences, Environmental Studies or relevant Engineering field.
Preferred but, not necessary, holding or eligibility to obtain a relevant professional designation (e.g., P. Bio, R.P.F., P.Ag, EP, P.Eng).
A minimum of 15 years of environmental and regulatory related experience in the energy sector (upstream and/or midstream oil and gas, mining, electrical transmission, power generation, energy transition)
Previous consulting experience preferred.
This role is a typical office environment, working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work and/or site visits may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
