Senior Digital Marketing & Communications Specialist
Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto is seeking an experienced strategic and hands-on Senior Digital Marketing & Communications Specialist to lead our direct marketing efforts and elevate how we engage donors, families and supporters across digital platforms. This role is responsible for planning, executing and optimizing integrated fundraising campaigns (digital and print), donor communications and content strategies that drive revenue, retention and brand growth.
We’re looking for a storyteller who understands that great marketing is rooted in meaningful content and knows how to shape a message, choose the right channel and time it for maximum impact. You’ll own the end-to-end direct marketing process from data pulls to deployment while also contributing to broader digital initiatives such as email marketing, web content, advertising, donor stewardship and events.

Key Responsibilities
Direct Marketing & Donor Communications
- Lead a comprehensive multi-channel direct marketing program (retention, renewals, upgrades, acquisition, stewardship) across print and digital platforms.
- Collaborate with the Director of Marketing & Communications and the Director of Development to set strategies, revenue targets and KPIs; monitor results and adjust plans as needed to meet fiscal goals.
- Support growth of our monthly giving program through digital communications, helping to convert one-time donors into long-term supporters.
- Work closely with the Database Analyst to manage donor data needs, segmentation and analytics for the direct marketing program.
- Liaise with vendors and agency partners to execute campaigns on time and on budget.
- Develop compelling donor communications (e.g. appeal letters, thank-you notes, stewardship emails, reports).
- Produce internal and external newsletters, donor impact reports and print / digital collateral to support fundraising and stewardship efforts.
Digital Marketing & Brand Storytelling
- Plan and execute multi-channel digital campaigns (email, social, paid search/display) that align with donor engagement and fundraising goals.
- Develop compelling audience-focused content that brings our mission to life, including donor impact stories, family experiences and campaign messaging across digital platforms.
- Manage website content and strategy to support a seamless user experience, improve SEO / SEM performance and enhance donor journeys.
- Lead digital advertising efforts including Google Ads, paid social and retargeting with a focus on lead generation and donor conversion.
- Track and analyze performance metrics across all digital channels; translate insights into actionable strategies that refine targeting, timing and content direction.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure storytelling is integrated and consistent across all campaigns, events and digital touchpoints.
Project Management
- Lead end-to-end planning and execution of marketing and donor communication projects ensuring timelines, budgets and deliverables are met.
- Manage multiple concurrent campaigns and initiatives balancing strategic priorities with day-to-day execution.
- Serve as a key Marketing liaison with internal teams (Development, Finance, Family Services) and external vendors / agencies to ensure seamless coordination and delivery.
- Build and maintain detailed project plans, content calendars and approval workflows.
- Proactively identify risks, resolve issues and adjust plans as needed to meet deadlines and campaign goals.
- Ensure quality control and consistency across all marketing outputs from print to digital assets.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
- 5 years of experience in digital marketing, ideally in a nonprofit or direct-response fundraising environment.
- Proven success in developing and managing direct marketing campaigns across multiple channels.
- Deep knowledge of digital platforms, advertising tools (Google Ads, Meta) and CRM systems (Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge preferred).
- Experience with email marketing (e.g. Mailchimp, Constant Contact), CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress) and analytics (e.g. GA4).
- Strong content development and storytelling skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Graphic design ability using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite and InDesign.

Since 1981 Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto has served as a place to call home for families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment. RMHC Toronto encompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and seven Family Rooms in hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury.
