Job description

An internationally reputable source for premium seafood products located in Vancouver currently has a Senior Cost Accountant role to join their finance team.

THE ROLE

The Senior Cost Accountant will play a critical role in evaluating inventory costs and ensuring financial accuracy.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will be responsible for developing precise cost calculations and templates for audit and business planning purposes.

You will work closely with the production, shipping, and receiving teams to ensure inventory accuracy and support the company’s financial reporting goals.

Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct inventory evaluations at month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
  2. Maintain accurate records of supply inventory and ensure correct valuation.
  3. Collaborate with production, shipping, and receiving teams to streamline cost tracking.
  4. Perform frequent inventory counts to verify accuracy.
  5. Assist IT and company leadership in completing the inventory module in the ERP system.
  6. Provide financial reporting and cost analysis, primarily focused on inventory valuation.
Qualifications:
  1. 2+ years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or seafood industry.
  2. CPA, CMA, or CGA designation, or actively working toward CPA certification.
  3. Strong Excel skills, with the ability to manage and analyze large data.
  4. Understanding of IT systems and data flows related to cost tracking.
  5. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate across departments.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
  1. Experience in seafood processing, manufacturing, or fish plant operations.
  2. Familiarity with ERP systems and inventory management software.
  3. A hands-on, team-oriented approach with a proactive mindset.
