Role

Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, the Senior Cost Accountant utilizes advanced analytical expertise and strong business acumen to deliver strategic cost insights that drive profitability of all production facilities. This role is responsible for developing robust financial models, streamlining and automating key processes, and transforming complex data into clear, actionable recommendations. The Senior Cost Accountant is a pivotal contributor to informed decision-making, ensuring all recommendations support the company's overall objectives and growth strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for developing and optimizing product costing logic, including cost driver setup, routings, and BOM groupings
  • Oversee and maintain BOM/routing setup and maintenance across all facilities
  • Compile and prepare costs for new products in collaboration with sales, product development and plant operations teams
  • Navigates and builds relationships with key stakeholders, including sales, plant leadership and other departments across the company
  • Develop dashboards and models and analyze product costs and margins for executive and plant leadership
  • Develop, maintain, and improve margin analysis tools to ensure accuracy and utility
  • Perform profitability analysis at material, customer, and product line levels
  • Provide analysis of cost drivers and profitability across product lines and channels and identify opportunities for cost control and reduction
  • Analyze cost variances, including material, labor, and overhead, and provide insights to operations and management
  • Review production results against standard expectations and analyze cost variances, including purchase price and production variances
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes through accurate cost rollups
  • Contribute to annual budget planning and regular forecasting activities
  • Collaborate with IT and finance teams to improve ERP costing functionality and address costing discrepancies
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting is required. Preferably CPA and/or equivalent designated/or enrolled in the CPA program
  • 3-5+ years of senior level accounting experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Hands‑on experience working in the manufacturing multi‑sites organization and understanding of cost accounting
  • Excellent ability to analyze and interpret complex datasets, with strong attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to identifying challenges and driving solutions
  • Advance Excel and experience building dashboards & financial models in Power BI are a must.

$90,000 - $110,000 a year
