Job description

THE ROLE

At Localcoin, our Compliance team makes sure we follow all regulations as a registered Money Service Business in Canada and the other countries where we operate —protecting our users, reducing risk, and supporting our mission. As a Senior Compliance Analyst, you’ll work directly with the Chief Compliance Officer to monitor customer transactions, file reports with regulators, and keep our Compliance Policies on track. You’ll also collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and auditors to ensure smooth operations.

This position will be based out of our office in Etobicoke, ON, and will have a hybrid work schedule of 2 days in office per week.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Oversee and support compliance activities tied to global expansion initiatives, including launches in new jurisdictions.
• Review transaction monitoring alerts and design new scenarios to detect money laundering, terrorist financing, and fraud.
• Work closely with product teams to define compliance-driven product specifications.
• Build, run, and analyze SQL and other reports on compliance-related data.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure compliance systems and processes are properly implemented and maintained.

NICE TO HAVES

• Prior experience in a global or multinational organization.
• Exposure to cryptocurrency compliance environments.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Experience: 1–3 years in Compliance, FinTech, or Financial Services, with 2–5 years of experience in data analysis.
• AML Compliance Expertise: Broad understanding of regulatory frameworks and obligations beyond single functions like KYC or transaction monitoring.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, Snowflake, Python, Jira, API integrations, and ability to collaborate with product/engineering teams.
• Compliance Tools Knowledge: Experience with customer identification solutions and transaction monitoring (on-chain and off-chain).
• Communication: Fluent English (written and spoken) with strong analytical reporting skills.
