Position Description: LOCATION: VANCOUVER, BC

This role is part of a large, multi-year enterprise implementation focused on modernizing core platforms and migrating critical data from legacy environments into a secure, scalable cloud foundation. The program is establishing a cloud‑native platform that supports data migration, integration services, APIs, event‑driven workflows, and analytics, while enabling parallel operation and controlled transition from existing systems. The cloud environment built through this effort forms the technical backbone of the overall transformation.

Future duties and responsibilities

The Senior Cloud Engineer is responsible for ensuring the cloud platform can reliably receive, process, validate, and operate on large volumes of business‑critical data. This includes designing landing zones, storage layers, migration pipelines, and foundational services that engineering teams depend on from day one. Decisions made in this role directly impact security, scalability, operational resilience, and delivery velocity. While initially assigned to this flagship program, the cloud patterns, migration approaches, and platform standards established are intended to become reusable assets across future transformation initiatives, positioning this role as a key contributor to long‑term cloud and data modernization capabilities within the consulting practice.

Builds and operates the cloud foundation supporting data migration, integration, and application delivery. This role ensures engineering teams have a secure, scalable, and fully automated cloud environment from project inception onward.

• Design and configure enterprise AWS environments and landing zones
• Implement access controls, networking, security, and foundational cloud services
• Build cloud storage layers and migration pipelines capable of ingesting legacy data
• Ensure the platform can receive, process, validate, and reconcile migrated datasets
• Implement Infrastructure‑as‑Code and CI/CD pipelines
• Enable development teams with fully operational cloud tooling from day one

Required qualifications to be successful in this role

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of cloud engineering experience
• Deep AWS expertise (e.g., VPC, IAM, S3, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, EventBridge, SQS)
• Working knowledge of Azure and GCP platforms
• Recognized authority on secure, enterprise cloud platform design

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors including but not limited to skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $85,000 - $160,000.
