Job description

As part of its activities, Desjardins uses a large number of quantitative models, including advanced analytical tools and artificial intelligence systems, to support its product and service offer and properly manage its risks, while always doing what’s best for members and clients. While these models provide indisputable decision‑making support, their use leads to further risks that must in turn be analyzed, assessed and mitigated. To this end, a governance framework specific to the models must be in place throughout their life cycle—from design to removal—including performance monitoring and various other development phases. This framework must also address risks specific to artificial intelligence systems to ensure appropriate use, in keeping with industry standards. As a senior advisor, model risk governance, you contribute to analysis, research and development of model risk management. You provide expert advice, support, leadership and influence for users, designers and model validators so that they can provide an overview of the risks associated with Desjardins’s range of models. You also serve as a resource person and coach for senior management and decision‑making bodies with respect to model risk management. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Propose solutions to optimize the governance framework to strengthen control over model risk
  • Coordinate the efforts required of contributors in various specialized risk areas to oversee models, including artificial intelligence systems
  • Supervise the cross‑sector process that supports the inclusion of models in the decision‑making process throughout their life cycle
  • Provide opinions and follow up on non‑compliance with the model risk management framework
  • Help develop positions on complex situations involving models that require sufficient knowledge of the model’s area of application
  • Design and take charge of the presentation of materials supporting the directions and decision‑making for model risk management
  • Participate in the annual planning of model risk governance support activities
  • Act as superuser for the tool implemented to support model risk governance
  • Monitor model risk governance practices, drawing on industry contacts and publications
What we offer*
  • Competitive salary and annual bonus
  • 4 weeks of flexible vacation starting in the first year
  • Defined benefit pension plan that provides predictable, stable income throughout retirement
  • Group insurance including telemedicine
  • Reimbursement of health and wellness expenses and telework equipment

* Benefits apply based on eligibility criteria.
