Overview

Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the Gordie Howe International Bridge project. Join our Canadian Crown corporation in fulfilling our mandate to build and operate this new international bridge at the busiest commercial land border crossing between Canada and the US.

The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is a multi-component undertaking valued at 6.4 billion CAD, including the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America, the largest Canadian and US Ports of Entry along the Canada-US border, and a new interchange connecting into the Michigan Interstate system.

About This Opportunity

As a member of the Finance and Administration team, reporting to the Controller, Finance, the Senior Accountant supports full-cycle accounting operations and partners with the Controller on process improvements. The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial statements and reports, and supports the Agency’s planned transition to IFRS.

Key responsibilities include preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports (including Board reporting packages) and providing financial analysis to senior leadership as needed. The Senior Accountant will contribute to various projects as the organization moves toward operations. The role may also support the year-end audit process and coordinate with external auditors. Additionally, the Senior Accountant provides guidance to team members and departmental leaders on financial matters related to asset management, compliance, budgeting, and general ledger inquiries.

Position Requirements
  • Degree in Finance or Accounting from a recognized university
  • CPA designation or in the process of completion
  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience
  • Strong technical accounting skills with knowledge of IFRS accounting standards
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication (oral & written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, while meeting deadlines
  • Sound professional judgement and initiative
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Microsoft Excel - Advanced level
  • Experience with financial reporting systems/tools
  • Experience with International Financial Reporting Standards

  • Ability to travel within Ontario and Michigan
  • Hours of work may include evenings and weekends
